In Spanje, waar de mensen enorm getroffen zijn door het corona-virus en de gevolgen er van, zijn ze begonnen met de actie:  “Todo saldra bien” – “Alles ko​mt goed”. Er worden regenbogen in allerlei vormen en maten geknutseld en getekend en voor het raam gehangen, regenboog-vlaggen genaaid en linten in elkaar gevlochten als symbool van hoop en vertrouwen in deze bizarre tijd.

Wij vinden dit een mooie, fijne, positieve actie en dragen daar graag ons steentje aan bij. Daarom hebben we het “Plant Rainbows” haakpatroon ontwikkeld. 

Om iedereen de mogelijkheid te geven om mee te doen aan dit project hebben we het patroon zo simpel mogelijk gehouden zodat iedereen deze regenbogen kan haken! Hoe meer, hoe beter!

Vergeet niet ons een foto van je regenboog te sturen per e-mail (info@ashicrochet.nl).  Zo krijgt jouw werk ook een plaatsje in de “Wall of Rainbows” en motiveren we nog meer mensen om te beginnen met haken!

 

In Spain, where people have been hugely affected by the coronavirus and its consequences, they have started this movement: “Todo saldra bien” – “Everything Will Be Alright”. Rainbows in all shapes and sizes are being crafted and drawn and hung in the window, rainbow flags are being sewn, and ribbons are being woven together as a symbol of hope and faith in these strange times. 

We at Atelier Kleurstof think this is a great, beautiful, positive movement and are pleased to throw our support behind it. That is why Aswintha, Aswintha (Instagram: ashi crochet) has developed the “Plant Rainbows” crochet pattern. 

To make it possible for everyone to join in this project, we have kept the pattern as simple as possible, so everyone can crochet these rainbows! The more the merrier!

De dikte van je garen is niet belangrijk, zolang je maar een haaknaald gebruikt die bij je garen past. Ben je een haker/haakster met weinig tot geen
ervaring? Dan raad ik je aan om dik garen te nemen, geschikt voor haaknaald 4-7 mm.

Pattern “Plant Rainbows!”

It does not matter how thick your yarn is, as long as the size of your crochet hook suits your yarn. Are you a crocheter with little to no experience? Then I recommend that you use thick yarn suitable for crochet hook 4 to 7 mm.

1. Maak een opzetlus met paars garen en haak 12 lossen

2. Steek nu je naald in de allereerste losse.

3. Maak er een ring van door ½ vaste in de eerste losse te haken.

Do you not know how to crochet at all (yet)? Then click on the stitch that you don’t know and the explanation will pop up! This way we hope that lots of children will also be crocheting rainbows. One stitch more or less here and there in the pattern does not really matter:

slip knot

ch = chain

sl st = slip stitch

sc = single crochet (UK: double crochet)

Tutorial

1. Make a slip knot and chain 12 stitches.

2. Insert your hook in the very first chain stitch.

3. Join to make a ring by working 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch.

4. Haak 18 vasten OM de ring.

5. Eindig de toer door een ½ vaste in de allereerste steek te haken. Afhechten: Knip de draad af (laat ongeveer 4 á 5 cm over)en haal deze door het lusje op je naald. Stevig aantrekken.

6. Nu hecht je de volgende kleur aan (blauw) door een opzetlus te maken en een halve vaste te haken. Dit kan in elke willekeurige steek. In de volgende steek haak je 1 vaste. In de steek daarna haak je 2 vasten. Dit herhaal je steeds (1 vaste in de volgende, 2 vasten in de volgende) totdat je alle steken hebt gehad.

 

4. Work 18 single crochets into the ring.

5. End the round by working 1 sl st in the very first stitch. Casting off: Cut the yarn off (leaving a tail, approximately 4 to 5 cm long) and pull the tail through the loop on your hook. Pull it tight.

6. Now cast on the next color (blue) by tying a slip knot in the yarn then attaching it with a slip stitch. Do so in any stitch. In the next stitch, work 1 single crochet. In the next stitch, work 2 single crochets. Repeat this (1 sc in the next, 2 sc in the next) until you have crocheted in all the stitches.

7. Als je aan het eind van de toer bent, heb je 27 vasten gehaakt. Hecht af door een halve vaste te haken in de eerste steek (de steek tussen de aangehechte steek en de 1e vaste). Knip de draad af en haal deze door het lusje op je naald.

8. Nu de groene: hecht de draad weer ergens aan met een halve vaste. In de volgende steek haak je 1 vaste. In de volgende steek ook. Hierna haak je 2 vasten in 1 steek.

Dit herhaal je: (1 vaste, 1 vaste, 2 vasten) totdat je aan het einde van de toer bent. Als het goed is heb je nu 36 vasten. Een steekje meer of minder? Dat maakt niet heel veel uit. *Alles Komt Goed* Hecht af zoals bij de blauwe toer.

9. Hecht de gele draad weer aan in een willekeurige steek. In de steken er na haak je achtereenvolgens: 1 vaste, 1 vaste, 1 vaste, 2 vasten. Dit herhaal je tot het einde van de toer.

Je hebt dan 45 vasten gehaakt. (Of ééntje meer of minder, het komt goed!) Je rondje gaat ook een beetje bobbelen maar maak je geen zorgen: ook dát komt goed.

Hecht weer af: ½ v in de steek tussen aanhechtsteek en 1e vaste. Knip de draad af en haal door de lus op je haaknaald.

 

7. Once you have reached the end of the round, you should have 27 single crochets. Cast off by working 1 slip stitch in the first stitch (the stitch between the cast-on stitch and the first single crochet). Cut the yarn off and pull it through the loop on your hook.

8. Now the green: Cast on a strand again anywhere with a slip stitch. In the next stitch, work 1 single crochet. In the next stitch as well. Then work 2 single crochets in 1 stitch.

Repeat this (1 sc, 1 sc, 2 sc) until you reach the end of the round. If all goes well, you should have 36 single crochets. One stitch more or less? It doesn’t really matter: Everything Will Be Alright. Cast off as you did for the blue round.

9. Cast on the yellow yarn, once more in any stitch. In the following stitches, one after the other, work: 1 single crochet, 1 single crochet, 1 single crochet, 2 single crochets. Repeat this until the end of your round. You now have 45 single crochets (or 1 more or less; it will be alright!)

Your round might bulge out a bit, but don’t worry: that will also be alright. Cast off again: 1 slip stitch in the stitch between the cast-on stitch and the first single crochet. Cut the yarn off and pull it through the loop on your crochet hook.

10. De oranje toer: je hecht weer aan zoals hiervoor. In elk van de volgende 4 steken haak je 1 vaste. In de 5e steek haak je er 2. Dit (4x 1 vaste, 2 vaste in de volgende) herhaal je tot het einde van de toer.

Afhechten doe je weer net als bij de voorgaande toeren. En ja; het komt écht goed met het bobbelen!

11. De één-na-laatste toer: de rode! Je hecht weer aan zoals hiervoor. Daarna haak je in elke steek 1 vaste. Afhechten.

12. De allerlaatste: de roze toer! Steek je naald (met roze opzetlus) niet in 1 maar 2 steken, tussen de 2 steken laat je er één vrij, zoals op het plaatje.

 

10. The orange round: Cast on again, just as before. In each of the next 4 stitches, work 1 single crochet. In the 5th stitch, work 2 single crochets. Repeat this ( 4 x 1 sc, 2 sc in the next) until the end of the round.

Cast off just as you did in the previous rounds. And yes; the bulging is really going to be alright!

11. The second last round: the red! Cast on just as before again. Then work 1 single crochet in each stitch. Cast off.

12. The final one: the pink round! Insert your hook (with the pink slip knot), not in 1 but in 2 stitches, leaving 1 stitch free between the 2 stitches, just as in the picture.

13. Vouw de regenboogcirkel nu dubbel en haak dan een vaste.

14. Ga door met vasten haken (telkens in de 2 tegenover elkaar liggende lussen) totdat je bij het einde van de toer bent.

15. Hecht weer af zoals hiervoor beschreven. Met een naald steek je de 2 roze draadeindes naar binnen, de regenboog in.

16. Als laatste naai je met paars de onderkant dicht.

 

13. Fold the rainbow circle in half and work 1 single crochet.

14. Continue working single crochets (in the 2 stitches opposite from each other) until you reach the end of the round.

15. Cast off again as described before. Using a needle, draw the 2 pink yarn ends to the inside of the rainbow.

16. And finally, sew the purple underside closed.

Nu je weet hoe het moet, kun er nog één maken. En nóg één, en nóg één….

 

Plant the world full of rainbows!

Now that you know how it goes, make another one. And another one, and another one…

Want of je nu in de zorg werkt, in de supermarkt; leerkracht bent of loodgieter; thuis werkt (terwijl je ondertussen je kinderen begeleidt met hun thuis onderwijs) of juist extra vaak onderweg bent om de winkelvoorraden aan te vullen ; iedereen zet z’n beste beentje voor en doet wat hij kan in deze vreemde tijd. Maar laten we ook vooral de (alleenstaande) ouderen niet vergeten! Om verspreiding van het corona-virus tegen te gaan, zitten zij vaak alleen thuis, zonder bezoek van hun vrienden, (klein) – kinderen of ander sociaal contact. Omdat deze situatie nog weken gaat duren, is de kans groot dat deze mensen vereenzamen.

 Dus….maak er zoveel je wilt, en….

• Zet ze in een potje in de tuin van je eenzame buurman, opa, oud-collega.
• Maak er een lusje aan en hang hem aan de deur of stop hem in de brievenbus.
• Stuur hem naar je tante met een lief kaartje er aan.
• Maak er een slinger van voor je jarige nichtje.
• Of hang hem voor je raam, zodat we allemaal weten dat we er voor elkaar zijn.

 

Whether you work in healthcare or at the supermarket; or you are a teacher or a plumber; or you work from home (and are at the same time guiding your children through their homeschooling) or travelling even more frequently to replenish store supplies; everyone puts their best foot forward and does whatever they can in these strange times. But let’s not forget the (isolated) elderly! To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, they are often sitting alone at home, without visits from their friends, (grand)children or other social contact. As this situation will continue for weeks, it is very likely that these people will get lonely.

So….make as many as you want, and…

• Stick them in a plant pot in the garden of your lonely neighbour, grandpa, former colleague,
• Attach a loop and hang it on the door or pop it through the letterbox,
• Send it to your aunt with a lovely card attached,
• Make a birthday garland for your niece,
• Or hang it in your window so we all know that we’re there for each other.
